Itaconic Acid Underpins Hepatocyte Lipid Metabolism in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Male Mice

Scientists showed that itaconic acid was upregulated in human non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and a mouse model of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

YY2-DRP1 Axis Regulates Mitochondrial Fission and Determines Cancer Stem Cell Asymmetric Division

Through cross-omics analysis, yin yang 2 (YY2) was identified as a novel negative regulator of cancer stem cell maintenance. It was shown that YY2 was downregulated in stem-like tumor spheres formed by hepatocarcinoma cells and in liver cancer.

AAV Induces Hepatic Necroptosis and Carcinoma in Diabetic and Obese Mice Dependent on Pebp1 Pathway

The authors showed that recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) injection caused liver injury, hepatic necroptosis, and HCC in db/db or high-fat diet-induced hyperglycemic and obese mice, but not in mice with only hyperglycemia or obesity.

OCTN2 Enhances PGC-1α-Mediated Fatty Acid Oxidation and OXPHOS to Support Stemness in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Bioinformatics analyses and immunohistochemistry assay were employed to identify organic cation/carnitine transporter 2 (OCTN2) expression in HCC tissues. The correlation between OCTN2 expression and prognosis was elucidated through K-M survival analysis.

MiR-494 Induces Metabolic Changes through G6pc Targeting and Modulates Sorafenib Response in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Bioinformatics analysis identified miR-494 metabolic targets. QPCR analysis of glucose 6-phosphatase catalytic subunit (G6pc) was performed in HCC patients and preclinical models.

Comprehensive Analysis Identifies CLEC1B as a Potential Prognostic Biomarker in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The expression of C-type lectin domain family 1 member B (CLEC1B) was explored using The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus databases. RT-qPCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry assays were employed to validate the downregulation of CLEC1B.

TATA-Box-Binding Protein Promotes Hepatocellular Carcinoma Metastasis through Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

TATA-box-binding protein expression was measured by PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry. RNA-sequencing was performed to identify downstream proteins.

LncRNA AC012360.1 Facilitates Growth and Metastasis by Regulating the miR-139-5p/LPCAT1 Axis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

In HCC tissues, differentially expressed long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) were identified by bioinformatics. AC012360.1 level was validated and its role in HCC progression was investigated.

    Abstract

Circular RNA circBNC2 Facilitates Glycolysis and Stemness of Hepatocellular Carcinoma through the miR-217/High Mobility Group AT-Hook 2 (HMGA2) Axis

The levels of circular RNA basonuclin 2 and high mobility group AT-hook 2 were highly expressed, while those of miR-217 were poorly expressed in HCC tissues and cells.

    Omics in Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure

The authors describe the omics techniques and how omics-based analyses have been applied to investigate and characterize the biological mechanisms of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) and identify potential predictive biomarkers and therapeutic targets for ACLF.

The Interplay between Noncoding RNAs and Drug Resistance in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: The Big Impact of Little Things

Investigators review current research on noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), consolidate the known roles regulating drug resistance in HCC, and examine the potential clinical applications of ncRNAs in overcoming drug resistance barriers in HCC.
