PUBLICATIONS(Ranked by impact factor of the journal)LABORATORY RESEARCHp62/SQSTM1 Enhances Breast Cancer Stem-Like Properties by Stabilizing MYC mRNA Investigators found that p62 expression was elevated in breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs), including CD44+CD24− fractions, mammospheres, ALDH1+ populations and side population cells. [Oncogene] Full Article Scientists revealed the deletion of Ptpro in MMTV-Erbb2 transgenic mice dramatically shortened the mammary tumor latency and accelerated tumor growth due to loss of Ptpro within breast cancer cells but not in surrounding tissue as confirmed by hetero-transplantation studies. [Oncogene] Full Article COX-2 Induces Breast Cancer Stem Cells via EP4/PI3K/AKT/NOTCH/WNT Axis Investigators revealed that COX-2 induces cancer stem-like cells (SLCs) by EP4-mediated NOTCH/WNT signaling. Ectopic COX-2 over-expression in MCF-7 and SKBR-3 cell lines resulted in: increased migration/invasion/proliferation, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, elevated SLCs (spheroid formation), increased ALDH activity and colocalization of COX-2 and SLC markers in spheroids. [Stem Cells] Abstract Researchers suggest that Myosin 1e (MYO1E) contributes to breast tumor malignancy and regulates the differentiation and proliferation state of breast tumor cells. [Oncotarget] Full Article Scientists found that 3,6-DHF could effectively inhibit epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) in BC cells in vitro and in vivo. 3,6-DHF effectively inhibits the formation and proliferation of BCSCs, and consequently reduces the tumor-initiating capacity of tumor cells in NOD/SCID mice. [Sci Rep] Full Article Researchers discovered that AurkA knock-down reduced wnt3a mRNA and suppressed metastatic signature of MDA-MB-231 cells. As a consequence, the amount of BCICs and their migratory capability dramatically decreased. [Sci Rep] Full Article γ-Tocotrienol was found to induce dose-responsive inhibition of MDA-MB-231 and T-47D cell growth at doses that had no effect on immortalized normal MCF-10A mammary epithelial cells. These growth inhibitory effects were associated with suppression in canonical Wnt signalling, reversal of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and significant reduction in breast cancer cell motility. [Cell Prolif] Abstract CLINICAL RESEARCHScientists evaluated the efficacy of three first-line chemotherapy combination regimens for HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer. [Clinical Breast Cancer] Abstract Investigators evaluated whether angiotensin II antagonist treatment with candesartan can prevent or ameliorate trastuzumab-related cardiotoxic effects.
