The Use of Nanovibration to Discover Specific and Potent Bioactive Metabolites that Stimulate Osteogenic Differentiation in Mesenchymal Stem Cells

The authors used nanovibrational stimulation to induce osteogenic differentiation of MSCs, in the absence of off-target, nonosteogenic differentiation.

Lymph Node Metastasis-Derived Gastric Cancer Cells Educate Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells via YAP Signaling Activation by Exosomal Wnt5a

Researchers found that lymph node metastasis (LNM)-gastric cancer (GC) specifically educated bone marrow (BM)-MSCs via secretory exosomes. Exosomal Wnt5a was identified as key protein mediating LNM-GCs education of BM-MSCs, which was verified by analysis of serum exosomes collected from GC patients with LNM.

Calreticulin as a Special Marker to Distinguish Dental Pulp Stem Cells from Gingival Mesenchymal Stem Cells

TMT-based quantitative proteomics and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis technology were used in combination to describe the protein profile of dental pulp stem cells and gingival mesenchymal stem cells extracted from the same donor.

    Abstract

Exosomal hsa_circ_0006859 Is a Potential Biomarker for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis and Enhances Adipogenic versus Osteogenic Differentiation in Human Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells by Sponging miR-431-5p

Hsa_circ_0006859 suppressed osteoblastic differentiation and promoted adipogenic differentiation of hBMSCs.

BMSC-Derived Exosomes Ameliorate Sulfur Mustard-Induced Acute Lung Injury by Regulating the GPRC5A–YAP Axis

Scientists explored the therapeutic potential of bone marrow-MSC-derived exosomes against acute lung injury and the underlying mechanisms.

    Abstract

Human BM-MSC Secretome Enhances Human Granulosa Cell Proliferation and Steroidogenesis and Restores Ovarian Function in Primary Ovarian Insufficiency Mouse Model

The authors report that the human MSC (hMSC) secretome increased the proliferation of human granulosa cells (HGrC1). They showed by FACS analysis that treatment of HGrC1 cells with hMSC-conditioned media stimulated cellular proliferation.

Apigenin Promotes Osteogenic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Accelerates Bone Fracture Healing via Activating Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling

Apigenin (API) was found to promote osteogenic differentiation of MSCs. Further investigation showed that API could enhance the expression of the critical transcription factor β-catenin and several downstream target genes of Wnt signaling, thus activated Wnt/β-catenin signaling.

Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor Facilitates the Therapeutic Efficacy of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Derived Exosomes in Acute Myocardial Infarction through Upregulating miR-133a-3p

Exosomes isolated from umbilical cord MSCs (ucMSCs), migration inhibitory factor (MIF) engineered ucMSCs and MIF downregulated ucMSCs were used to investigate cellular protective function in human umbilical vein endothelial cells and H9C2 cardiomyocytes under hypoxia and serum deprivation and infarcted hearts in rats.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell Exosome-Derived miR-223 Alleviates Acute Graft-versus-Host Disease via Reducing the Migration of Donor T Cells

Investigators performed expression profiling of exosome-miRNAs from human umbilical cord MSCs and murine compact bone MSCs to investigate their immunoregulation effects in acute graft-versus-host disease.

Age-Related Changes in the Inflammatory Status of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells: Implications for Cell Therapy

The authors explore the intimate relationship between the inflammatory status of human MSCs (hMSCs) and their in vitro aging process. They posit that a shift from an anti-inflammatory to a pro-inflammatory phenotype of culture-expanded hMSCs contributes to a deterioration in their therapeutic efficacy.
