Atezolizumab for Advanced Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma

Scientists conducted an investigator-initiated, multicenter, single-group, Phase II study of the anti–programmed death ligand 1 agent atezolizumab in adult and pediatric patients with advanced alveolar soft part sarcoma.

Genetically Engineered Mesenchymal Stem Cells as a Nitric Oxide Reservoir for Acute Kidney Injury Therapy

Human MSCs were genetically modified to produce mutant β-galactosidase. Furthermore, a new nitric oxide prodrug, 6-methyl-galactose-benzyl-oxy NONOate, was designed.

    Abstract

Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG) Mitigates ER Stress and Improves Viability and Insulin Sensitivity in Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (ASC) of Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS)-Affected Horses

EMS affected ASC wells were treated with two different concentrations, 50 and 100 nM, of exogenous SHBG, whose biocompatibility was tested after 24, 48, and 72 h of incubation.

Inhibitory Role of Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells-Derived Exosome in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer: microRNA-30b-5p, EZH2, and PI3K/AKT Pathway

Bioinformatics analysis was performed with non-small-cell lung cancer-related miRNA microarray GSE169587 and mRNA data GSE74706 obtained for collection of the differentially expressed miRNAs and mRNAs.

Differing Responses of Osteogenic Cell Lines to β-Glycerophosphate

Researchers exposed Saos-2 cells to different combinations of ascorbic acid, dexamethasone, and β-glycerophosphate for 14 days and compared the response with immortalized human MSCs.

Therapy-Induced Senescence Contributes to the Efficacy of Abemaciclib in Patients With Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma

The authors coordinated a first-in-kind Phase II clinical trial of the CDK4/6i abemaciclib for patients with progressive dedifferentiated liposarcoma with cellular studies interrogating the molecular basis of geroconversion.

    Abstract

FNDC5 Inhibits Autophagy of Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Promotes Their Survival after Transplantation by Downregulating Sp1

Investigators confirmed that fibronectin type III domain protein 5 (FNDC5) promoted the survival of transplanted bone marrow MSCs in a rat cerebral infarction model. Bioinformatic analysis and verification experiments revealed the transcription factor, Sp1, to be a key mediator of autophagy regulation by FNDC5.

A Novel HMGA2::KITLG Fusion in a Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma with Amplification of MDM2 and HMGA2

Researchers reported a case of relapsed DDLPS with a novel in-frame fusion between high-mobility group AT-hook 2 (HMGA2) and KITLG, which encoded the ligand for KIT kinase, a critical protein involved in gametogenesis, hematopoiesis, and melanogenesis.

Therapeutic Potential in Rheumatic Diseases of Extracellular Vesicles Derived from Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

In the past two decades, the therapeutic value of MSCs has been evaluated because of their regenerative potential, which is mainly attributed to the secretion of paracrine factors. Many of these factors are enclosed in extracellular vesicles that reproduce the main functions of parental cells.

The Characteristics and Medical Applications of Antler Stem Cells

The authors provide a brief description of antler regeneration and the role of antler stem cells (ASCs) and describe the properties and advantages of ASCs.
