SARS-CoV-2 N Protein Enhances the Anti-Apoptotic Activity of MCL-1 To Promote Viral Replication

Scientists found SARS-CoV-2 virus-like particles (trVLP) suppressed cell apoptosis, but the trVLP lacking N protein did not. Further study verified that N protein repressed cell apoptosis in cultured cells, human lung organoids, and mice.

Patient-Derived Head and Neck Cancer Organoids Allow Treatment Stratification and Serve as a Tool for Biomarker Validation and Identification

Organoids were established from head and neck cancer patient tumor tissue and characterized using immunohistochemistry and DNA sequencing. Organoids were exposed to chemo- and radiotherapy and a panel of targeted agents, and organoid response was correlated with patient clinical response.

Precision Medicine Applied to Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Using Tumor-Derived Organoids and In-Vitro Sensitivity Testing: A Phase II, Single-Center, Open-Label, and Non-Comparative Study

In this Phase II, single-center, open-label, non-comparative study, 90 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer following progression on or after standard therapy were enrolled. Patient-derived organoids and in vitro sensitivity testing were feasible in a cohort of metastatic colorectal cancer.

Novel Model of Cortical–Meningeal Organoid Co-Culture System Improves Human Cortical Brain Organoid Cytoarchitecture

Investigators first generated human cortical organoids from a single rosette to create more homogenous organoids. They then took advantage of a 3D co-culture system to encapsulate brain organoids with a thin layer of meningeal cells from the very early stages of cortical development.
