The Hippo Kinase LATS2 Impairs Pancreatic β-Cell Survival in Diabetes through the mTORC1-Autophagy Axis

Scientists reported that large-tumor suppressor 2, a core component of the Hippo signaling pathway, was activated under diabetic conditions and induced β-cell apoptosis and impaired function.

Single Cell Transcriptomics Reveal Trans-Differentiation of Pancreatic Beta Cells Following Inactivation of the TFIID Subunit Taf4

To address the function of the Taf4 subunit of general transcription factor TFIID in the regulation of insulin signaling, it was inactivated in adult murine pancreatic beta cells.

MiR-20b-5p Modulates Inflammation, Apoptosis and Angiogenesis in Severe Acute Pancreatitis through Autophagy by Targeting AKT3

Cerulean and LPS was used to establish a rat model and an in vitro model of severe acute pancreatitis. qRT-PCR, western blot and IHC were determined to analyse the expression of mRNA and proteins. IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-6 levels were measured applying ELISA.

EPS8 Supports Pancreatic Cancer Growth by Inhibiting BMI1 Mediated Proteasomal Degradation of ALDH7A1

Researchers explored the interplay between epidermal growth factor receptor kinase substrate 8 and aldehyde dehydrogenase 7 family member A1 (ALDH7A1) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PADC) cells. PADC cell lines MIA PaCa-2 and AsPANC-1 were used for in vitro and in vivo studies.

Dickkopf-Related Protein 3 Alters Aerobic Glycolysis in Pancreatic Cancer BxPC-3 Cells, Promoting CD4+ T-cell Activation and Function

The BxPC-3-DKK3 cell line was constructed, and peripheral blood mononuclear cell was prepared. After isolation the CD4+ T cells, the lactic acid, glucose uptake ability, cellular viability, proliferation, apoptosis, and markers were detected by PCR and western blot, and the concentrations of multiple cytokines were determined using the ELISA method.

One Hundred Years of Insulin Therapy

At the time of its first clinical application 100 years ago, insulin was presented as the cure for people with diabetes mellitus. That transpired to be an overstatement, yet insulin has proven to be the lifesaver for people with type 1 diabetes mellitus and an essential therapy for many with type 2 diabetes mellitus or other forms of diabetes mellitus.
