[Am J Hum Genet] Invasive Prostate Carcinoma Driven by c-Src and Androgen Receptor Synergy Researchers analyzed over-expression of cellular Src (c-Src) in naïve mouse prostate epithelium and observed no change in tubule formation frequency or histological structure. [Cancer Res] Tyramide Signal Amplification for Antibody-Overlay Lectin Microarray: A Strategy to Improve the Sensitivity of Targeted Glycan Profiling Here, researchers describe a new Tyramide Signal Amplification (TSA) for Antibody-overlay Lectin Microarray procedure for sensitive profiling of glycosylation patterns. Researchers demonstrated that TSA increased the sensitivity of the microarray over 100 times for glycan profiling using the model protein prostate specific antigen. [J Proteome Res] Toward an Automatic Method for Extracting Cancer- and Other Disease-Related Point Mutations from the Biomedical Literature Researchers introduce a high-throughput computational method for the identification of relevant disease mutations in Pub-Med abstracts applied to prostate and breast cancer mutations. [Bioinformatics] Leptin Signaling and Apoptotic Effects in Human Prostate Cancer Cell Lines This research studied leptin-induced signaling and apoptosis in androgen sensitive (LNCaP, PC3/AR) and insensitive (PC3, DU145) prostate cancer cell lines. [Prostate] Anti-Angiogenic Effects and Mechanism of Prazosin Alpha1-adrenoceptors antagonists (doxazosin, terazosin, prazosin) are commonly prescribed for benign prostate hyperplasia and hypertension. Doxazosin and terazosin exhibit anti-angiogenic effects and apoptotic activities against multiple cell types and are potential preventive agents for prostate cancer. Prazosin induces apoptosis in three prostate cancer cell lines. Researchers hypothesized that prazosin, a more potent alpha1-adrenoceptor antagonist with a distinct mechanism, exhibits anti-angiogenic activity.
