RBM3 Suppresses Stemness Remodeling of Prostate Cancer in Bone Microenvironment by Modulating N6-Methyladenosine on CTNNB1 mRNA

By co-culturing prostate cancer (PCa) cells with osteoblasts to mimic PCa bone metastases, investigators found that RBM3 upregulated the N6-methyladenosine methylation on the mRNA of catenin beta 1 (CTNNB1) in a manner dependent on methyltransferase 3.

HMMR Promotes Prostate Cancer Proliferation and Metastasis via AURKA/mTORC2/E2F1 Positive Feedback Loop

Scientists found that upregulation of hyaluronan-mediated motility receptor (HMMR) was observed in prostate cancer (PCa) samples and was associated with poor prognosis. HMMR significantly promoted PCa proliferation and metastasis through gain- and loss-of function approaches in vitro and in vivo.

Melatonin Protects against Cadmium-Induced Oxidative Stress via Mitochondrial STAT3 Signaling in Human Prostate Stromal Cells

Researchers demonstrated that cadmium exposure reduced the levels of mitochondrially-localized signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) using human prostate stromal cells and mouse embryonic fibroblasts.

Downregulation of CAMK2N1 Due to DNA Hypermethylation Mediated by DNMT1 That Promotes the Progression of Prostate Cancer

To test whether DNA methylation could result in the reduced expression of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II inhibitor I (CAMK2N1) in prostate cancer, the DNA methylation level of CAMK2N1 in prostate cells was determined by bisulfite sequencing, pyrosequencing, and in silico analysis.

MiR-15b-5p Inhibits Castration-Resistant Growth of Prostate Cancer Cells by Targeting the Muscarinic Cholinergic Receptor CHRM3

Investigators evaluated the molecular mechanisms through which cholinergic receptor muscarinic 3 (CHRM3) overexpression facilitated castration-resistant growth. Small RNA-sequencing combined with in silico analyses revealed that CHRM3 was a putative target of miR-15b-5p.

Discovery of SI 1/20 and SI 1/22 as New Mutual Prodrugs of 5-Fluorouracil and Imidazole-Based Heme Oxygenase 1 Inhibitor with Improved Cytotoxicity in DU145 Prostate Cancer Cells

Scientists extended the concept of 5-fluorouracil/heme oxygenase 1 (5-FU/HO-1) inhibitor hybrid as an effective strategy for enhancing 5-FU-based anticancer therapies.

Hypoxia Promotes Conversion to a Stem Cell Phenotype in Prostate Cancer Cells by Activating HIF-1α/Notch1 Signaling Pathway

To examine whether HIF-1α in the hypoxic microenvironment mediates the transformation of prostate cancer to a stem cell phenotype, prostate cancer stem cells from PC-3 cell lines were examined for the expression of CD44, CD133, ALDH1, HIF-1α, Notch1, and HES1.

D2B-Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles: Promising Vehicles for Targeted Drug Delivery to Prostate Cancer

Researchers investigated the functionalization of gold nanoparticles with D2B to generate favorable physicochemical and biological properties that mediate specific binding to prostate cancer.
