Th17 Cells Contribute to Combination MEK Inhibitor and Anti-PD-L1 Therapy Resistance in KRAS/p53 Mutant Lung Cancers

Researchers showed that MEK inhibition enhanced PD-L1 expression while PD-L1 blockade upregulated MAPK signaling in mutant KRAS lung tumors.

The Long Non-Coding RNA PFI Protects against Pulmonary Fibrosis by Interacting with Splicing Regulator SRSF1

Scientists investigated the role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in lung fibrosis. Scientists used a qRT-PCR assay to identify dysregulated lncRNAs in the lungs of mice with experimental, bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis, and a series of molecular assays to assess the role of the novel lncRNA NONMMUT060091, designated as pulmonary fibrosis inhibitor, which was significantly downregulated in lung fibrosis.

Resetting Proteostasis with ISRIB Promotes Epithelial Differentiation to Attenuate Pulmonary Fibrosis

Investigators showed that administration of ISRIB, a small molecule that restores protein translation by EIF2B during activation of the integrated stress response, accelerated the differentiation of alveolar type 2 into alveolar type 1 cells.

Alveolar Epithelial Cell Fate Is Maintained in a Spatially Restricted Manner to Promote Lung Regeneration after Acute Injury

Researchers investigated the role of Fgfr2 signaling in alveolar epithelial type 2 cells across the lifespan and during adult regeneration after influenza infection.

A Non-Genetic, Cell Cycle Dependent Mechanism of Platinum Resistance in Lung Adenocarcinoma

Scientists advanced the model system and identified a non-genetic mechanism of resistance that drive recovery and regrowth in a subset of cells.

    Abstract

PLK1/Vimentin Signaling Facilitates Immune Escape by Recruiting Smad2/3 to PD-L1 Promoter in Metastatic Lung Adenocarcinoma

Researchers showed that vimentin phosphorylated by PLK1, triggered TGF-β-signaling, which consequently led to metastasis and PD-L1 expression for immune suppression in lung adenocarcinoma.

RNA m6A Reader YTHDF2 Facilitates Lung Adenocarcinoma Cell Proliferation and Metastasis by Targeting the AXIN1/Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling

Investigators found that YTHDF2 was significantly upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) compared with paracancerous normal tissues, and YTHDF2 knockdown drastically inhibited, while its overexpression promoted, cell growth, colony formation and migration of LUAD cells in vitro.

Distinct Mutational Backgrounds and Clonal Architectures Implicated Prognostic Discrepancies in Small-Cell Carcinomas of the Esophagus and Lung

By performing whole-exome sequencing of 48 small-cell carcinoma of the esophagus (SCCE) and 64 small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) tumor samples, respectively researchers have shown that the number of driver mutations in SCCE was significantly lower than in SCLC

Relationship between Long Non-Coding RNA PCAT-1 Expression and Gefitinib Resistance in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Cells

Investigators elucidated the expression and role of long non-coding RNA – PCAT – 1, a potential biomarker for drug resistance and a therapeutic target for NSCLC, in gefitinib resistance in NSCLC cells.
