Non-Small Cell Lung Cancers (NSCLCs) Oncolysis Using Coxsackievirus B5 and Synergistic DNA-Damage Response Inhibitors

Coxsackievirus B5/Faulkner was screened for its potential oncolytic effect against NSCLCs through inducing apoptosis and autophagy.

Regulation of Epithelial Transitional States in Murine and Human Pulmonary Fibrosis

Investigators showed that human keratin (KRT) 8 genetic variants were associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Krt8-/- mice were protected from fibrosis and accumulation of the transitional state. Keratin 8 regulated the expression of macrophage chemokines and macrophage recruitment.

Lung Extracellular Matrix Modulates KRT5+ Basal Cell Activity in Pulmonary Fibrosis

Researchers revealed a potential mechanism by which KRT5+ cells migrate within the fibrotic lung, navigating regional differences in collagen topography. In vitro, KRT5+ cell migratory characteristics and expression of remodeling genes were modulated by extracellular matrix composition and organization.

CSE Reduces OTUD4 Triggering Lung Epithelial Cell Apoptosis via PAI-1 Degradation

Investigators showed that ovarian tumor family deubiquitinase 4 (OTUD4) protein reduced in cigarette smoke extract (CSE) treated mice and airway epithelial cells. OTUD4 silence aggravated cell apoptosis and emphysematous change in the lung tissue of CSE treated mice.

Efficacy of Trigonella foenum-graecum Linné in an Animal Model of Particulate Matter-Induced Asthma Exacerbation

Scientists investigated the efficacy of Trigonella foenum-graecum Linné in a bronchial cell model and an animal model of asthma exacerbation caused by particulate matter (PM). BEAS-2B bronchial epithelial cells were simultaneously treated with tumor necrosis factor-α/interleukin-4 and PM.

Validation of Airway Porcine Epithelial Cells as an Alternative to Human In Vitro Preclinical Studies

Porcine and human tracheal and bronchial epithelial cells are compared in terms of in vivo tissue architecture and in vitro cell behavior under standard and airlifted conditions, analyzing the regenerative, proliferative, and differentiative potentials of these cells.

EGR-1 Contributes to Pulmonary Edema by Regulating the Epithelial Sodium Channel in Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Acute Lung Injury

Scientists investigated the potential mechanism of early growth response factor (EGR-1)-mediated regulation of epithelial sodium channel in acute lung injury (ALI). They explored whether EGR-1 aggravates the pulmonary edema response in acute lung injury.

YAP Silencing by RB1 Mutation Is Essential for Small-Cell Lung Cancer Metastasis

Researchers found that loss of YAP expression was key for SCLC cells to acquire rapid ameboid migration and high metastatic potential. YAP functioned through its target genes CCN1/CCN2 to inhibit SCLC ameboid migration.

Exploring the Role of miR-200 Family in Regulating CX3CR1 and CXCR1 in Lung Adenocarcinoma Tumor Microenvironment: Implications for Therapeutic Intervention

Investigators identified and validated the key differentially expressed immune-related genes regulated by the miR-200 family which may serve for therapeutic aspects in LUAD tumor microenvironment by affecting cancer progression, invasion, and metastasis.
