Alveolar Macrophage-Expressed Plet1 Is a Driver of Lung Epithelial Repair after Viral Pneumonia

Investigators revealed that placenta-expressed transcript 1 (Plet1) was released from alveolar macrophages, and acted as important mediator of macrophage-epithelial cross-talk during lung repair by inducing proliferation of alveolar epithelial cells and re-sealing of the epithelial barrier.

Modeling Bronchial Epithelial-Fibroblast Cross-Talk in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) Using a Human-Derived In Vitro Air Liquid Interface (ALI) Culture

Scientists investigated IPF dysregulated cross-talk, primary normal human bronchial epithelial cells and primary normal human lung fibroblasts or diseased human lung fibroblasts from IPF patients, were co-cultured in direct contact at the air–liquid interface.

A Transcriptomics-Based Investigation of the Mechanism of Pulmonary Fibrosis Induced by Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles

The authors identified ncRNA-related ceRNA networks and investigated the role of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in pulmonary fibrosis. Male Wistar rats were intratracheally instilled with 0.015, 0.06, and 0.24 mg/kg NiONPs twice a week for nine weeks.

Highly Sensitive Real-Time Monitoring of Adenosine Receptor Activities in Nonsmall Cell Lung Cancer Cells Using Carbon Nanotube Field-Effect Transistors

Adenosine receptor activities in NSCLC cells were monitored in real-time with high sensitivity through a carbon nanotube field-effect transistor (CNT-FET). In this method, they hybridized a CNT-FET with NSCLC cells expressing A2A and A2B adenosine receptors to construct a hybrid platform.

The Oncogenic Role and Regulatory Mechanism of PGK1 in Human Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Non-metabolic function of phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) in NSCLC was explored by integrating bioinformatics analyses, cellular experiments, and nude mouse xenograft models.

Identification of Molecular Subtypes and Prognostic Model to Reveal Immune Infiltration and Predict Prognosis Based on Immunogenic Cell Death-Related Genes in Lung Adenocarcinoma

Clinical data along with associated mRNA expression profiles from LUAD cases were collected in TCGA and GEO databases. 13 immunogenic cell death (ICD)-related genes were identified. Relations of ICD-related gene expression with prognosis of patients, and tumor immune microenvironment were analyzed.

SF3B4 Downregulation Restrains Lung Adenocarcinoma Tumorigenesis via 5′ Alternative Splicing of KAT2A

Researchers demonstrated the effects of SF3B4 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) via apoptosis, proliferation, migration assays, etc. Gene manipulations confirmed the role of SF3B4 via KAT2A. SF3B4 was found to promote LUAD growth.

Carcinogenic Role and Clinical Significance of Histone H3-H4 Chaperone Anti-Silencing Function 1 B (ASF1B) in Lung Adenocarcinoma

Scientists investigated the aberrant expression of histone H3-H4 chaperone anti-silencing function 1 (ASF1B) in lung adenocarcinoma and its potential link to patient survival using multiple databases.

The Role of Regulatory B Cells in Immune Regulation and Childhood Allergic Asthma

The authors discuss different human regulatory B cell (Bregs) subsets, several ways of Breg induction, as well as the mechanisms through which they exert immunoregulatory functions, and their role in childhood allergic asthma.
