Loss Alters Cisplatin Response and Increases Drug Efficacy in Chemotherapy-Resistant Lung Cancer

Scientists examined whether targeting Rev7, a component of the translesion synthesis machinery, could potentiate the action of cisplatin in NSCLC treatment.

    Short
Exposure to Hyperoxia Causes Cultured Lung Epithelial Cell Mitochondrial Dysregulation and Alveolar Simplification in Mice

The authors investigated the role of a very short exposure to hyperoxia on mitochondrial function in cultured mouse lung epithelial cells and neonatal mice.

    Cysteinyl Leukotriene D4 (LTD4)
Promotes Airway Epithelial Cell Inflammation and Remodeling

Using primary human small airway epithelial cells, researchers investigated the mechanism of leukotriene D4-induced inflammation and remodeling and assessed high proneness of obese mice to develop asthma upon challenge with allergen ovalbumin.

Analysis of Key Genes and Pathways in Human Bronchial Epithelial Cells BEAS-2B Exposed to Urban Particulate Matter

Human bronchial epithelial cells BEAS-2B were exposed to standard reference material 1649b, followed by RNA-sequencing and a combination of different bioinformatics analysis.

Effects of Simulated Microgravity and Ionizing Radiation in Cell Death, Induction of ROS and Expression of RAC2 in Human Bronchial Epithelial Cells

Human lung bronchial epithelial Beas-2B cells were used to study the regulation of radiobiological effects by simulated microgravity. It was found that simulated microgravity together with radiation induced drop of survival fraction, proliferation inhibition, apoptosis, and DNA double-strand break formation of Beas-2B cells additively.

Nuclear Translocation of PD-L1 Promotes Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cell Proliferation via the Gas6/MerTK Signaling Pathway

Scientists demonstrated that programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression levels were positively correlated with p-MerTK levels in patient samples and NSCLC cell lines.

GDC-0349 Inhibits Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cell Growth

In A549 cells and primary human NSCLC cells, GDC-0349 inhibited cell growth, proliferation, cell cycle progression, migration and invasion, while inducing significant apoptosis activation.

LINC00472 Regulates Cell Stiffness and Inhibits the Migration and Invasion of Lung Adenocarcinoma by Binding to YBX1

LINC00472 inhibited lung adenocarcinoma cell migration and invasion and increased cell stiffness and adhesion. RNA pull down and RIP assays identified that LINC00472 interacted with the transcription factor Y-box binding protein 1, which partially reversed the inhibition of cell migration and invasion and increased LINC00472-induced cell stiffness and adhesion.

    Therapeutic Potential of Polysaccharide of
    Ipomoea batatas
as an Autophagy Inducer for Treating Lung Cancer via Blocking PAK1/Akt/mTOR Signaling

Researchers identified a role of Ipomoea batatas polysaccharides (IBP) in inhibiting lung cancer proliferation. They found that IBP significantly impeded the proliferation of lung cancer cells by inducing cytostatic macroautophagy both in vitro and in vivo.

    Combinations
of Proteasome Inhibitors with Obatoclax Are Effective for Small Cell Lung Cancer

The authors investigated whether bortezomib or carfilzomib combined with obatoclax, an antagonist for MCL-1 and a pan-BCL family inhibitor, could cause synergistic growth inhibition of small cell lung cancer cells.
