Discovery of Bioactive Microbial Gene Products in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Scientists systematically identified more than 340,000 protein families as potentially bioactive with respect to gut inflammation during inflammatory bowel disease, about half of which have not to their knowledge been functionally characterized previously on the basis of homology or experiment.
