Using an in vitro co-culture model, researchers assessed the effects of Lactobacillus crispatus and G. vaginalis on the cervicovaginal epithelial barrier, the immune mediators that could be contributing to decreased barrier integrity and the immune signaling pathways regulating the immune response.
