The authors performed a pan-cancer single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis across 15 cancer types and identified a catalog of gene modules whose expression defined recurrent cancer cell states including ‘stress’, ‘interferon response’, ‘epithelial-mesenchymal transition’, ‘metal response’, ‘basal’, and ‘ciliated’.
