Treatment with a sigma-1 receptor protein (Sig1R) antagonist, 1-(4-iodophenyl)-3-(2-adamantyl)guanidine, activated the unfolded protein response in TNBC (high-Sig1R expressing) and ER + (low-Sig1R expressing) breast cancer cell lines.
