Molecular Mechanisms of Calcium‐Mediated Small Intestinal Glucose and Sodium Absorption through the CICR and the SOCE

Glucose absorption and channel expression were examined in mouse upper jejunal epithelium by Ussing chamber study and immunocytochemistry, respectively. Ca2+ and Na+ imaging was also performed in single intestinal epithelial cells.

Elevated miR‐124‐3p in the Aging Colon Disrupts Mucus Barrier and Increases Susceptibility to Colitis by Targeting T‐Synthase

Investigators evaluated alterations in the colon mucus layer in 2‐, 16‐, and 24‐month‐old mice and aged humans. Aged colons showed defective intestinal mucosal barrier and changed mucus properties. The miR‐124‐3p expression level was significantly increased in the aged distal colonic mucosa, which was accompanied by an increase in pathogens and bacterial translocation. Meanwhile, T‐synthase, the rate‐limiting enzyme in O‐glycosylation, displayed an age‐related decline in protein expression.

Anti-Oncogene PTPN13 Inactivation by Hepatitis B Virus X Protein Counteracts IGF2BP1 to Promote Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression

Researchers found that decreased tyrosine-protein phosphatase nonreceptor type 13 (PTPN13) expression was associated with hepatitis B virus/hepatitis B x protein. Patients with low PTPN13 expression showed a poor prognosis. Functional assays revealed that PTPN13 inhibited proliferation and tumorigenesis in vitro and in vivo.

B7-H3 Regulates KIF15-Activated ERK1/2 Pathway and Contributes to Radioresistance in Colorectal Cancer
