Epigenetic Reactivation of Transcriptional Programs Orchestrating Fetal Lung Development in Human Pulmonary Hypertension

Silencing of TBX4, TBX5, SOX9, or E1A-associated protein P300 by RNA interference or small-molecule compounds regressed PAH phenotypes and mesenchymal signatures in arterial FBs and smooth muscle cells.

Active Force Generation Contributes to the Complexity of Spontaneous Activity and to the Response to Stretch of Murine Cardiomyocyte Cultures

Using stretchable microelectrode arrays, we assessed the effects of the myosin inhibitor blebbistatin and the nonselective stretch-activated channel blocker streptomycin on beating variability and on the response of neonatal or fetal murine ventricular cell cultures against deformation.

    Abstract

Circular RNA Circ-RCCD Promotes Cardiomyocyte Differentiation in Mouse Embryo Development via Recruiting YY1 to the Promoter of MyD88

Functional experiments revealed that inhibition of circ-RCCD dramatically suppressed the formation of beating cell clusters, the fluorescence intensity of cardiac differentiation marker MF20, and the expression of the myocardial-specific markers CTnT, Mef2c, and GATA4.

The Mechanism of the Imbalance Between Proliferation and Ferroptosis in Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cells Based on the Activation of SLC7A11

SLC7A11 was up-regulated in Sugen5416/hypoxia-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) rats and patients with PAH. Moreover, solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11) inhibited ferroptosis and promoted proliferation by overexpressing SLC7A11 in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells.

    Abstract

Antioxidant Effects of Bis-Indole Alkaloid Indigo and Related Signaling Pathways in the Experimental Model of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Investigators evaluated the potential role of the indigo on oxidative stress and related signaling pathways in primary skeletal muscle cell cultures and in the diaphragm muscle from mdx mice.

    Abstract

PPARγ Activation Inhibits PDGF-Induced Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cell Proliferation and Migration by Modulating TERT

The authors explored whether telomerase reverse transcriptase mediates the proliferation and migration of pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells and the underlying molecular mechanism.

Rosmarinic Acid Inhibits Platelet Aggregation and Neointimal Hyperplasia In Vivo and Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Dedifferentiation, Proliferation, and Migration In Vitro via Activation of the Keap1-Nrf2-ARE Antioxidant System

Researchers investigated the effects of rosmarinic acidon platelet function, vascular smooth muscle cells phenotypic conversion, proliferation, and migration in vascular remodeling with a specific focus on the Keap1-Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway.

Activation of the GTPase ARF6 Regulates Invasion of Human Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells by Stimulating MMP14 Activity

The authors defined whether platelet-derived growth factor, a mitogenic stimulant of vascular tissues, and Angiotensin II, a potent vasoactive peptide, could result in the activation of adenosine diphosphate ribosylation factor 6 (ARF6) in a human model of aortic smooth muscle cell.

Salvianolic Acid A From Danhong Injection Induces Vasorelaxation by Regulating L-Type Calcium Channel in Isolated Mouse Arteries

Scientists determined the vasodilating substances of Danhong injection and explained its molecular mechanism of vasodilation. With molecular biology experiments, it was verified that the relevant mechanisms were closely related to calcium-mediated vasoconstriction in smooth muscle cells.

Cysteine and Glycine-Rich Protein 2 Promotes Hypoxic Pulmonary Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Proliferation Through the Wnt3α-β-Catenin/Lymphoid Enhancer-Binding Factor 1 Pathway

Investigators discovered that cysteine and glycine-rich protein 2 (Csrp2) expression was increased both in pulmonary arteries and smooth muscle cells in pulmonary hypertension.

    Abstract

Circular RNA circ_0021001 Regulates miR-148b-3p/GREM1 Axis To Modulate Proliferation and Apoptosis of Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

The binding relationship between miR-148b-3p and circ_0021001 or gremlin 1 (GREM1) was predicted by StarBase and then verified using a dual-luciferase reporter assay.
