Scientists identified a cytoplasmic antiviral lncRNA that they named antiviral lncRNA prohibiting human alphaviruses, which was transcriptionally induced by alphaviruses and functions independently of IFN to inhibit the replication of CHIKV and its closest relative, O’nyong’nyong virus, but not other viruses.
