In vitro studies showed that A549 cells with the combination of benzo[a]pyrene and H1N1 virus augmented NF-κB and P-P38 activation, accompanied by higher levels of pro-inflammatory mediators and apoptosis, all of which were also significantly reduced by diosmetin treatment.
