Pro- and Anti-Tumor Activities of CD146/MCAM in Breast Cancer Result from Its Heterogeneous Expression and Association with Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition

Researchers showed that CD146 negatively regulated transendothelial migration in breast cancer. This inhibitory activity was reflected by a reduction in melanoma cell adhesion molecule (MCAM) gene expression and increased promoter methylation in tumor tissue compared to normal breast tissue.
