Scientists showed that chemotherapy induced neutrophil recruitment and neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation, which reduced therapy response in mouse models of breast cancer lung metastasis. Chemotherapy-treated cancer cells secreted interleukin (IL)-1β, which in turn triggered NET formation.
