Human iPSC-Derived Neural Progenitor Cells Secreting GDNF Provide Protection in Rodent Models of ALS and Retinal Degeneration

Neural progenitor cells transduced with glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factors were transplanted into the subretinal space of rats where they protected photoreceptors and vision, the spinal cord of SOD1 rats where they protected motor neurons, and the spinal cord of nude rats where they showed long-term survival and safety.
