To explore the contribution of dehydrogenases to the low oxygen concentration response of tumor cells, scientists used siRNAs targeting 163 dehydrogenase-coding genes and discovered that glutamate dehydrogenase 1 played a critical role in regulating colorectal cancer cell survival under hypoxia.
