Scientists developed a composite fibrous hydrogel to vary gel stiffness without affecting structure by controlling intrafibrillar crosslinking. The hydrogel was formed from aldehyde-modified cellulose nanocrystals and gelatin methacryloyl that provided the capability of intrafibrillar photocrosslinking.
