Interleukin-1β Triggers Muscle-Derived Extracellular Superoxide Dismutase Expression and Protects Muscles from Doxorubicin-Induced Atrophy

Scientists demonstrated that doxorubicin triggered severe muscle atrophy via upregulation of oxidative stress and atrogenes in association with decreased expression of the antioxidant enzyme extracellular superoxide dismutase, in cultured C2C12 myotubes and mouse skeletal muscle.
