Scientists examined the role of sterol regulatory element-binding protein (SREBP)-1c in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and the regulation of lipocalin-2 (LCN2) gene expression. Wild-type and SREBP-1c knockout mice were fed a high-fat/high-sucrose diet, treated with carbon tetrachloride, and subjected to LCN2 overexpression.
