Researchers identified p38α (MAPK14) as a central regulator of mitophagy during severe acute pancreatitis progression (SAP). Combining bioinformatic screening with an experimental SAP model, they demonstrated aberrantly hyperactivated p38α in pancreatic acinar cells.
