Uncoupling CD4+ TIL-Mediated Tumor Killing from JAK-Signaling in Melanoma
[Clinical Cancer Research] To determine the role of cytotoxic CD4+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in immune checkpoint blockade-resistant tumors, scientists investigated CD4+ TIL-mediated cytotoxicity in matched pairs of TILs and autologous melanoma cell lines, used as a model of patient-specific immune-tumor interaction.

Defective Peripheral B Cell Selection in Common Variable Immune Deficiency Patients with Autoimmune Manifestations
[Cell Reports] Researchers found that receptor editing, a measure of central tolerance, was increased in transitional B cells from common variable immune deficiency (CVID) patients, and that these cells had a higher immunoglobulin κ:λ ratio in CVID patients with autoimmune manifestations than in those with infection only.

Alternative Splicing of GSDMB Modulates Killer Lymphocyte–Triggered Pyroptosis
[Science Immunology] Upon NK cell attack, gasdermin B (GSDMB)3-expressing cells died by pyroptosis, whereas GSDMB4-expressing cells died by mixed pyroptosis and apoptosis, and GSDMB1/2-expressing cells died only by apoptosis. GSDMB4 partially resisted NK cell-triggered cleavage, suggesting that only GSDMB3 was fully functional.

Polycomb Ezh1 Maintains Murine Muscle Stem Cell Quiescence through Non-Canonical Regulation of Notch Signaling
[Developmental Cell] Researchers reported that polycomb Ezh1 confered quiescence to murine muscle stem cells (MuSCs) through a non-canonical function. In the absence of Ezh1, MuSCs spontaneously exited quiescence.

Hemoglobin Resident in the Lung Epithelium Is Protective for Smooth Muscle Soluble Guanylate Cyclase Function
[Redox Biology] Doing transwell co-culture with bronchial epithelial cells, A549/16-HBE, and human airway smooth muscle cells, researchers found that hemoglobin could protect the smooth muscle soluble guanylyl cyclase from excess nitric oxide.

HCMV-IE2 Promotes Atherosclerosis by Inhibiting Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells’ Pyroptosis
[Frontiers in Microbiology] The infection models in vitro and in vivo were constructed to explore the pathogenesis of HCMV-related atherosclerosis.
