Scientists tested a technique which partitioned heterogeneous cell states within a geometric pattern, where boundary regions of curvature prime the stem cell-like fraction. Using melanoma cells of different metastatic potential, the authors discovered a relationship between stem fraction and nanoparticle uptake.
