Uptake-Independent Killing of Macrophages by Extracellular Mycobacterium tuberculosis Aggregates

Researchers used time-lapse fluorescence microscopy to show that contact with extracellular Mycobacterium tuberculosis aggregates triggers macrophage plasma membrane perturbation, cytosolic calcium accumulation, and pyroptotic cell death.
