The authors evaluated the in vitro developmental toxicity and the possible underlying mode of action of DMSO extracts of a series of highly complex petroleum substances in the mouse ESC test, the zebrafish embryotoxicity test and the aryl hydrocarbon receptor reporter gene assay.
