Scientists found that endothelial cells (ECs) upregulate the transcription factor YY1 during post-ischemic vascular regeneration, but this response is blunted in diabetic ECs. They identifited endothelial YY1 as a mediator through which CD4+ Tregs drive angiogenesis in non-diabetic condition.
