Corosolic Acid Inhibits Cancer Progression by Decreasing the Level of CDK19-Mediated O-GlcNAcylation in Liver Cancer Cells

[Cell Death & Disease] The antitumor ability of corosolic acid (CA) was investigated by inhibiting the O-GlcNAcylation level and its corresponding mechanism. The results showed that high glucose (HG) could promote the proliferation of liver cancer cells, while CA could inhibit cell growth under HG conditions and tumor growth in a xenotransplantation model.

Long Non-Coding RNA LOC107985656 Represses the Proliferation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells through Activation of the Tumor-Suppressive Hippo Pathway

[Bioengineered] The lncRNA, mRNA and miRNA levels in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues or cells were measured using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results showed that LncRNA LOC107985656 was downregulated in HCC tissues and cells.

A Novel Protective Role for Matrix Metalloproteinase-8 in the Pulmonary Vasculature

[American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine] Researchers evaluated matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP-8) as a modulator of pathogenic mechanical signaling in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). MMP-8 expression was significantly increased in plasma and pulmonary arteries of pulmonary hypertension (PH) patients compared to controls and induced in the pulmonary vasculature in rodent PH models.

Programmed Cell Death 10 Promotes Metastasis and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition of Hepatocellular Carcinoma via PP2Ac-Mediated YAP Activation

[Cell Death & Disease] Programmed cell death 10 (PDCD10) was significantly upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which also correlated with aggressive clinicopathological characteristics and predicts poor prognosis of HCC patients after liver resection. High PDCD10 expression promoted HCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro and tumour growth, metastasis in vivo.

Viscoelasticity and Adhesion Signaling in Biomaterials Control Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Morphogenesis in 3D Culture

[Advanced Materials] The authors used viscoelastic alginate hydrogels with independently tunable stress relaxation, stiffness, and arginine–glycine–aspartate ligand density to study human iPSC morphogenesis in 3D culture.

RhoA Drives Actin Compaction to Restrict Axon Regeneration and Astrocyte Reactivity after CNS Injury

[Neuron] An inhibitory extracellular milieu and neuron-intrinsic processes prevent axons from regenerating in the adult central nervous system. Here scientists show how the two aspects are interwoven.
