Liver-specific Sirutin 2 (SIRT2) deficiency sensitized mice to alcoholic liver disease, whereas transgenic SIRT2 overexpression in hepatocytes significantly prevented ethanol-induced liver injury via normalization of hepatic steatosis, lipid peroxidation, and hepatocyte apoptosis.
