The unique ability of extracellular vesicles (EVs) to pass through the blood brain barrier further conferred them an important role in the bidirectional communication between the central nervous system and periphery, and application of EVs enabled the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of neuroinflammatory diseases in a minimally invasive manner.
