Researchers showed that GLIS2 inactivation promoted mammary stem cell stemness, and GLIS2 is required for normal mammary gland development, while GLIS2 inactivation induced the proliferative and tumorigenic capacities of the mammary tumor–initiating cells of claudin-low breast cancers.
