Researchers demonstrated the generation of more advanced in vitro multiocular organoids from human iPSCs. In the 2D culture, self-formed multizone ocular progenitor cells spanned the neuroectoderm, surface ectoderm, neural crest, and retinal pigment epithelium, mimicking early stages of eye development.
