Investigators reported that interleukin-4 –induced M0 → M2 macrophage polarization was accompanied by interchangeable glucose- or lactate-dependent tricarboxylic acid cycle metabolism that directly drove histone acetylation, M2 gene transcription, and functional immune suppression.
