Scientists showed that the serine/threonine kinase AKT2 interacted with interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) and phosphorylated it on Thr207, thereby attenuating IRF3 nuclear translocation in a 14-3-3ε-dependent manner and reducing induced type I interferon production.
