By screening a collection of small-molecule compounds, investigators found that inhibiting β-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1) with MK-8931 potently reprogrammed tumor-promoting macrophages into tumor-suppressive macrophages and promotes macrophage phagocytosis of glioma cells.
